This project was developed in collaboration with Long Lab at the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology. The image shows a blog which would be part of a blog series (main science communication product) on a website designed for the lab. Each blog would spotlight individual lab members’ (research associates, assistants and lab technicians) academic background and their contributions to the lab’s research. The blogs would address why the lab is interested in studying the role of the extracellular matrix in fetal brain development and the process of ethically collecting, storing and using fetal brain tissue in the lab’s research. This project aims to build the public’s understanding of current research regarding cellular and mechanical mechanisms underlying brain development and demonstrate how scientific research is a collaborative effort. The website is aimed at 20-45 years olds who are interested in understanding the research behind brain development. To make the website interactive and understandable, there will be a glossary of key terminologies mentioned in blogs and virtual 360 view 3D models of ‘typical’ and ‘atypical’ fetal brains from various weeks of development – to show changes in cortical folding.
