ANDY’S BRAIN ADVENTURES - Story Book

My project is a storybook targeted at kids aged between 5-7 years old. It introduces the basic concepts of the thalamus structure of the brain in a friendly way so that the kids are able to understand. Since it is an educational book, it would be ideal for kids aged between 5-7 years old to be given this book as a part of the reading records that most schools offer (kids given a book from the school to read at home with parents and parents sign that the child has in fact read the book). Alternatively, parents may even choose this book for their children without the intermediary of the school. Interactive sessions in line with the book can also be held to promote a ritual approach in communicating the science. The vision is that this storybook has a series, with different editions/parts for the different parts of the brain so that kids are able to learn basic facts about the brain. The characters are child-friendly and the use of imagery should enable the children to picture a simple structure of the brain/thalamus.
