The FOX G 1 syndrome experience - exhibition

Updated: May 11, 2023

Student - Zeinab Abdalla

Supervisor - Dr Corinne Houart

My project is an immersive experience that uses virtual reality, lights, sound and different technological advances to communicate about FOX G1 syndrome. This experience is a collaboration between Dr Corinne Houart Lab in London and the FOX G1 research foundation. The target audience is, however, not limited to, those interested in science, neuroscience, neurodevelopmental disease or FOX G1 syndrome. This could vary from the families affected by FOX G1 syndrome to students who are interested in this area. This experience will be in a three-floor standalone venue in central London. This large venue will be divided into four sections. Once the audience enters the venue they will be greeted by a hologram of Natalie, a member of the FOX G1 foundation. Then they will lead to the first floor to start the experience where lights and sound using a combination of videos and holograms are used to explain what FOX G1 is and what leads to the syndrome. The audience then moves up to the final floor to enter the virtual reality lab, which is where the scientist shares their findings and research as well as the molecular and genetic basis of the disease. Finally, the audience will visit the common area and gift shop on the first floor to shop for FOX G1 syndrome merchandise as well as discuss the cause with others.
