In my early interactions with the lab there were several conversations about scientists not being recognised as ‘people’ but being categorised based on previous societal perceptions.

A podcast was the natural fit; it is convenient and more relatable than other formats - which when you are looking to break down barriers is perfect! Plus the choice to focus on females was evident; the most engaged individuals were women – and I wanted to be guided by the lab.

The full show would feature a mini-series in the lab and episodes on scientists impacted by the Matilda effect (the bias against acknowledging scientific achievements by women) as well as a linked website to find out more.
