Thuret Lab - Instagram rebrand

Student - Shivani Kakkad

Supervisor - Sandrine Thuret

My project centres on the rebranding of the Thuret Lab's Instagram page, with a series of Instagram posts revolving around the main theme, adult hippocampal neurogenesis. The audience is a young demographic, specifically ages 16-35 who have access to Instagram. My page has a ‘Meet the Lab Team’ series to introduce all the Thuret Lab members, with a summary of their current roles, projects, educational backgrounds, and general research interests. The page also has three main posts: 1) what is neurogenesis and why it matters, 2) how can we control neurogenesis, and 3) what happens when neurogenesis goes wrong. The ‘science’ communicated focuses on three research papers provided by lab members that are broken down into simple and accessible language for users to understand the research. I also have curated a reading list for followers to access the in-depth information if needed. Lastly, I have a throwback photo series showcasing the lab in previous workshops and social gatherings. This page has important implications for young people and educates them about neurogenesis and its impact on overall well-being. Overall, my rebranding initiative seeks to not only elevate the Thuret Lab's online presence but also serve as a catalyst for science communication and public engagement
