My project is a 15-minute documentary about Katie Long’s Lab. The documentary is split into three main parts. Firstly, there is an introduction where I explain what the neocortex is, and the importance of this lab. Subsequently, there is a part showing the WET lab techniques that they use the most, which are: organotypic slices, imaging and cell cultures. A video of the researchers doing these techniques is shown, at the same time they explain the processes through an interview for the audio. Finally, the big research question of the team is broken down into the different research questions of the team. In this section, some animated diagrams help to understand the concepts that the researchers are mentioning such as what is a progenitor cell, neurogenesis, and neuronal migration. The audience is any person from late teenage years onwards with a basic understanding of science. Finally, the idea would be to put it in YouTube, on the King’s College Website, and/or the Website for the Developmental Neurobiology Department.
