One Decision, Countless Lives Saved - Poster series.

Student - Amy Bishop

Supervisor - Bill Edwards, Gordon Museum

My project is a poster series, split to educate both the general and medical public on organ donation and its importance. This directly reflects the work at the Gordon Museum as the museum heavily relies on organ donation to teach medical professionals to diagnose disease. The 4 main organ posters are aimed at the general public visiting these speciality units at either Guys or St Thomas’ Hospital. Line drawings represent the person who donated their organ to the Gordon museum alongside photographs representing the person today who benefited from the knowledge from that donation. They also highlight either the gap between the number of people on the transplant waitlist and number of transplants or, if there wasn’t a gap, simply how many people benefited from scientific advancements in that area. The law poster aimed to educate the medical public about the new opt-out system and the barriers that families still pose despite this. This important but sensitive information will hopefully encourage conversations within medical professional circles and help inform patient interactions. Accompanying all is an informational poster highlighting the progression of organ donation over the years, emphasising its success!
