More Than Skin Deep is a magazine-style brochure that explores how cardiovascular awareness might be communicated to Black women with fibrotic conditions, including keloid scars and uterine fibroids. Designed for non-specialist audiences, the piece is intended for settings such as clinic waiting areas or community-facing spaces, where readers may have limited time but may be open to engaging with a visually inviting health resource. 

The brochure addresses an emerging biomedical question: whether fibrotic conditions may sometimes coincide with increased cardiovascular vulnerability, and whether this could open a useful opportunity for earlier awareness and prevention. It introduces basic ideas about blood pressure, cardiovascular risk, and the possible links between fibrosis and vascular change, while remaining scientifically cautious. The piece makes clear that these are signals for awareness rather than proof of disease, and that awareness should not be confused with diagnosis. 

Visually, the brochure draws on magazine conventions rather than traditional hospital leaflet design, using bold imagery, concise text, and a structured reading journey to encourage readers to keep turning the page. By combining accessibility, representation and scientific accuracy, the brochure aims to make complex science feel relevant, readable and worth acting on the early cardiovascular prevention among Black women communities.
