Could it be a Parasite? – Travel -Related Pathology Cases

My project is a case-based poster paired with a supporting leaflet designed to help medical clinicians and students of medical backgrounds recognise imported parasitic disease through clinical reasoning and travel history. The audience is the medical public visiting the Gordon Museum of Pathology, who all have varying depths of understanding.  

The poster introduces two patient scenarios and asks visitors to identify the most likely parasite. These cases are presented as a clinical task, prompting the reader to provide answers, using diagnostic reasoning and their medical knowledge. It then points towards the supporting leaflet, which expands on the poster, providing clearer information on malaria, giardiasis and amoebiasis, detailing life cycles, symptoms, prevention and treatment. The interested visitor would use this to not only come up with answers but also learn about parasitic disease. 

The project aims to combine clarity with depth by avoiding an overcrowded design by splitting responsibilities across the leaflet and poster. In doing so, it supports the Gordon Museum’s role as a contemporary pathology teaching space, turning parasite recognition into a more active, memorable and clinically relevant learning experience.
